MIXSANA : our teas
All teas come from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis, a white-flowering evergreen bush about 3-5 feet high, native to China and India.
Three types of tea are produced from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis - green tea, black tea, and oolong tea, so classified according to their fermentation process. Black and oolong teas are made from fermented or partially fermented leaves while green tea leaves are just steamed to prevent fermentation and oxidation. The various names given to teas (Darjeeling, Ceylon, Assam, etc.) refer to the original places of tea plantations and not to the quality of tea leaves.
For our teas, MIXSANA has selected the Orange pekoe black tea which is is not flavoured with orange. It refers to the grade of tea, consisting of large pieces of leaves or even whole leaves. Orange pekoe is a high-quality grade of tea.

Green tea
Green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents its catechin-polyphenol compound from being oxidized. By contrast, black and oolong tea leaves are made from fermented leaves, which results in the catechin-polyphenol being converted into other compounds that are not nearly as effective in preventing and fighting various diseases.
